Whatever changes they made worked really well. Controlled the run game for the most part. No easy pass completions by playing way off the receivers. Glad to see they can make adjustments.

Noticed Wake won today with 110 yards passing. I hope we play them tight coverage on the line and give them no easy completions.

Before we get too carried away. We gave up 47 points. Clemson completed 62% of their passes with many long gainers. While we stopped their run game they simply gashed us in the flat. They ran 84 plays (24 more than us).
Hard to get too excited over 47.
Best that can be said is that we have some good young talent that got worn down.
Let's see how we do against Wake.

The defense gave up net 33 points not 47 (the defense scored once and the offense gave up a score)

Trevor Lawrence averaged 6.7 yards per attempt which would be outside of the top 25 ypa most years

The offense provided very little relief, gaining only 325 yards and consistently putting the defense back out on the field.

The youth... the youth... 4 of our 6 linebackers are out or severely limited by injury. 3 of our top 4 DBs are out or severely limited. Crazy town youth providing the 33 net points given up on the road to the best offense in all of the land

really at 27-21 CLemson had done little after the first drive and the bubble wr screens were most of their offense all game.

D will probably struggle against Wake, but saying we gave up 47 points (twice) in a thread about the D seems like piling on. Culpepper handed them 14 points. One directly, and once giving them the ball on the 3. And even that still took them 3 plays to get in.

We forced 6 punts (they faked one), 3 FGs, and had a TD turnover against a loaded offense with 2 Heisman candidates on their home turf.

They should be proud of how well they played, all things considered.

A lot of questions on defense started to get answered on Saturday. Would really like to see them build on this effort and not take a step back against Wake.

Wake with that delayed run game is always tough on us plus this is the one QB that kills us holding the ball. he lit us up last yr in relief. Our corners need to be solid and the young safeties need to not blow coverages for easy scores..

Gotta take into consideration our O’s collapse in the second half. For most defenses, that 47 could’ve easily hit 55 or 60. Our D hung tough when the O tried it’s best to sustain drives and give the D a breather. Pretty sure clemson hung 52 on GTech by half.

D was great Saturday. Bear's best game and our CB's held up tremendously. I do think Etienne sitting out helped a bit as I still think the way to gash us is physical run game.

I guess my issue is with marking ourselves on some Clemson curve. Just seems disingenuous to pat ourselves on the back for being not as bad as we feared for three fourths if a game.

I think the kids played hard but we are nowhere near where we can be content with the full game results - which is the proper yardstick.

Wake will be a good test and I hope they prove me wrong.
