It's also where QBs go to die. Happy he didn't end up there, as well. What a mess in that QB room. They are still paying Deshaun Watson -- who's been a flop and who they mortgaged away several years worth of draft picks to acquire -- on a guaranteed contract. Even though it is restructured, they have a ton of $$$ that they still owe this guy. And he's injured, and slated to miss the entire year. They also signed Pickett, who started in Pittsburgh and played for Philly last year. Overall, he hasn't lived up to the first round draft status, but is still young. He's gunning to prove that he is a viable starter, and a franchise QB. Then, they brought in Joe Flacco. He's on the wrong side of 40, but was the comeback player of the year in Cleveland two years ago, and led them to the playoffs. Proven commodity, and maybe the "best" option, but a short time solution to their messy QB situation, at best. Then the draft mess. The took Dillon Gabriel -- the QB from the college team that spent most of the year ranked #1 -- in the 4th round. He has some ability, but is flawed [small physical stature], but a winner who was successful at multiple colleges. And to further muddy the waters, they then drafted Sanders in the fifth round, despite already drafting Gabriel, signing up for the off-field circus that comes along with him. None of the players listed above are a sure thing, and the whole mixture seems dysfunctional, at best. Factor in that they've started 42 different QBs since returning to the league in 1999 [and passing on Donovan McNabb to draft all time bust Tim Couch instead], and it just doesn't seem like an environment where any QB can be successful. They probably just need to limp through this year, shed themselves eventually of the albatross that is the failed Deshaun Watson contract, and see what they have in Pickett and / or the rookie QBs. And they'll probably still be looking for a franchise QB next season -- which is the most Cleveland Browns thing of all.
