I've made comments where applicable. In short, a quick count says 12 guys left their P5 job for another P5 job over the past decade. In other words, it's not common. And 9 of those 12 were hires that resulted in a step up in prestige.

Obviously, history is not an indicator of future performance. Just know that it's rare for a coach to leave a P5 job for another P5 job if it's not a step up in prestige or for personal ties.

Dan Mullen, Miss St to Florida (Worked at Florida previously & a step up in prestige)
Jimbo Fisher, Florida St to TAMU (FSU was lousy last year and TAMU offered absurd money based on his prestige)
Willie Taggart, Oregon to Florida St (Florida native, had success in Florida at South Florida, arguable step up in prestige)

2016:
None

2015:
None

2014:
Paul Chryst, Pitt to Wisconsin (Native / Alum / previously worked there / step up in prestige)
Mike Riley, Oregon St to Nebraska (Step up in prestige)
Gary Anderson, Wisconsin to Oregon St (Weird, but likely a sign he was unhappy there)

2013:
Steve Sarkasian, Washington to USC (Previously worked at USC / step up in prestige)
Charlie Strong, Louisville to Texas (Step up in prestige)
James Franklin, Vanderbilt to Penn St (Step up in prestige)

2012:
Brett Bielma, Wisconsin to Arkansas (SEC job / More money)
Tommy Tubberville Texas Tech to Cincy (Better than being fired)

2011:
None

2009:
Lane Kiffin, Tennessee to USC (Dirt ball)
