I myself had a bad concussion (wakeboarding) that took nearly 4 months to get over and feel normal. I can't imagine having multiple concussions of that nature and concluding it doesn't have long term health consequences. I was one who used to think a concussion was no big deal and 'part of the game.' Not saying I agree with the kickoff replacement concept laid out, but I can understand the league changing the rules for health reasons. Life is more important than a game.
