I don't think it will hold up that such severe penalties fit the infraction AS REPORTED, or support that an athlete needs to be made an example of.

But again -- that's based upon what has been reported being the full story.  And whether Allen is a first time offender in terms of university infractions.  If this is a first issue, then he shouldn't be kicked out for two semesters -- too harsh.  But if there's a pattern of bad behavior, then the punishment might take that into consideration and factor into the penalty.

But just going on the info that's been presented, I think he has a good chance to get a stay.  Doesn't mean that the situation will be fully resolved, but I'd expect him to be reinstated for summer / fall, while this situation gets worked out.
