I don’t think someone like Zaire Franklin is going to speak out publicly about this if he didn’t already know the facts and disagree strongly with the decision. Furthermore, I don’t think you would have a bunch of current players coming out publicly in support of Lequint if they knew he was in the wrong. These kids aren’t stupid 4) this ruling is picking up a lot of steam in terms of news coverage. I don’t think the University and AD want this getting much further out of hand. I think they make a ruling here that punishes Lequint but not a whole year. I expect a game or 2 suspension and that’s what the university will settle with. I think Wildhack and Dino to an extent will get pretty involved here with the university and ask What are they doing. 5) the Syracuse legal system didn’t even find enough to charge to Lequint. But the university is going to have a harsher punishment than the actual legal system? Come on now. 6) look at Lequint’s track record all the way back to his high school days. Never has been trouble, never has been in trouble but now the university wants to mess up his life for this??? Lequint took responsibility for his actions, stated he was willing to do some community work, and I’m sure a game or two suspension…to me that sounds about on par for this kind of action. Even if it’s self defense and you cause bodily harm to someone…a game or two suspension and community work is a very fair suspension. Lequint is not completely innocent here and I think that punishment is on course for his actions. And I guarantee Lequint won’t be a problem the rest of the time he is here. 7) lastly, anyone with a brain knows, that if the facts we know as of now are correct, knows that punishment was just ridiculous to begin with. To be quite honest with you, if there’s an investigation that needs to be ongoing. It’s how the hell did the university think a season suspension was the right consequence for this action. I honestly think that should be investigated on how they came to that conclusion. Cause that’s just not right, and can’t happen going forward [/QUOTE]
