Throw out Nova and CMU

McF***It and Hunt = 3.3 points per RZ possession

Lester and Long = 3.2 points per RZ possession

A big reason they sh!tcanned McF***it was because they were so bad in the RZ. It's gotten worse! that's hard to believe

Why is it so hard to believe? Our OL is ravaged by injuries, we're playing a true freshman QB, and we've has several key offensive skilled players out for an extended period of time.

Seasons over--I have no illusions about going on a run to qualify for a bowl appearance since we couldnt' beat NC State--but it will be interesting to see what happens when we get Robinsion / Trudo healthy, and Estime / Broyld added back to the arsenal. On paper, you'd expect the data trend to improve.

it's hard to believe because it was so terrible to start with.

we'd be barely worse off if murphy just kicked the second we hit the 20

Does anything make you happy, aside from relying far too much on stats to tell us over and over and over and over and over again that everything sucks and the new guy is worse than the last guy, who was incredibly terrible?

You don't have to like the offense or wear orange colored glasses or drink Kool-Aid or whatever. But could you please shut up about it for more than an hour? Jeez. This board has become unreadable because people like you are so sure you're right, and you just keep polluting it with the same crap over and over again.

We suck. Period. The scheme sucks, we don't have a competitive QB on campus, we lack in recruiting, our defense bends and bends and sometimes doesn't break, we're decimated by injuries, and our head coach may or may not have been a terrible hire. Do we really need incremental detail to tell us HOW much we suck? Give it a rest.

I really think though looking at results ignores the play calling part of the game, if you call perfect plays and we drop the ball, get a penalty, fall down, throw an INT is that play calling ?

ok lets stop looking at results then and do your thought experiments

your annoyance gives me great joy

Well, here are some more stats. Last year, against this NC State team, we ran the ball down their throats, for 364 yards rushing, with Hunt getting a nice share of that. Only 74 yards passing.

This season, we had a very pretty passing game (when AJ wasn't running for his life) for 300 plus yards -- a record for a frosh -- and not much on the ground. But mistakes can happen when you rely only on passing and can't establish the run.

i wish i knew the value of a rushing yard vs a passing yard . rushing yards are worth more but i wonder how much. would be nice to adjust total yardage that way.

Long has roughly 3 or 4 more long TD passes than Hunt. So passing TD's trending up, zone read with big semi-fast QB trending down.

I thought you'd like the more passing TD's...

I want to score more. Being better at passing is the way to do that. We are not better at passing though

Do you like our passing game with Long or with Hunt?

do u have a life or work in a cube that can post all day? Not trying to be a mean guy here but the way u spew hate towards program and amount of times u say it in a post is tiresome...

Having a balance is what counts the most -- because it keeps the defense off balance.
The lesson from those past two games with NC State -- the team that can run the ball (controlling the line of scrimmage) won in both cases.

It seems like he's posting more because all of the anti - McDonald people who somehow blamed all of the offensive problems on him and said everything would be okay with Lester at the helm have nothing more to say.

The posts calling for McDonald's head went on for pages until it was delivered. Thereafter, the posts saying Lester would deliver went on for pages. Now here we are a month later.

Reality is setting in. The major mid - season demotion, simply put, hasn't worked.

I'll go a step further and say we would be in better shape as a program if the move had never been made at mid-season. Although I don't post often I voiced my displeasure for the support of the move and how it was handled only added to my distaste. I hope some are starting to see there were two sides to that debate and not only the one they were expounding.

Ok, I'll get off my soapbox now. Go Cuse! Beat Duke!

McDonald deserved it. Lester gets his shot. Then someone else next year

Maybe if you watch a game instead of the stats you would see that aj throws a much better ball then hunt. Hunt was overthrowing people all the time. Aj is a much better passer. My God enough with the stats. Hunt is awful, after that audible to aam in the end zone I never want to see him again in a game.

Can't judge Lester on a mid-season, calling someone else's system, starting a true freshman - with a mash unit of an oline.

Made some bad calls - sure. But good ones too.

He'll get another season.

That's not the only thing. I agree he throws a better ball.
