Both were cheated by Tim brown and the Notre Dame aura. - Both schools were pioneers in using black players. - Both schools were national powers in the 50's and 60's but faded, primarily due to the additional recruiting requirements of the two platoon era and the resulting supremacy of Penn State, Ohio State and Michigan. - Both got tired of looking up at those football factories and made comebacks but have had trouble sustaining success. But the Spartans look like they've built their program up to the level it was in the Munn-Daughtery years and are an example to SU as we try to regain our past glory. Keep in mind this isn't about abandoning Syracuse at all. it's about having another school out there that we also root for. One that is doing better than we are at the moment.
