What might his staff look like?
He might have friends at other schools, etc but looking only at the places he has coached, here are some likely candidates:
From his time at Stanford (played 1993-94 before transferring):
He played under Bill Walsh.
From his time at Nebraska (played 1995-97, GA 2002):
Turner Gill was his QB coach. Frank Solich was the RB coach.
Played on two NC teams under Tom Osborne.
From his time with the NY Jets (as a player, 1998-2000):
First two years he played under Bill Parcells, then spent a year under Al Groh. Bill Belichick was the DC under Parcells. Dan Henning was the OC in 2000, Mike Nolan was the DC, Bob Sutton was the LB coach and John Lott was the strength guy.
From his time with the Cleveland Browns (as a player, 2001):
Butch Davis was the HC. Bruce Arians was the OC. Todd McNair was RB coach. Todd Bowles was the nickel back coach. Chuck Pagano was the DB coach.
From his time with the Green Bay Packers (as a player, 2002-03):
Mike Sherman was the HC. Jeff Jagodzinski was TE coach. He is currently the OC at Georgia State. Ed Donatell was the DC, is currently the DB coach for the Bears. Bo Pelini was LB coach. Lionel Washington was the DB coach. He was just fired, served as co-DC/DB coach at Tulane. The QC control/special teams coach was Stan Drayton.
From his time with Tampa Bay (as a player 2003):
John Gruden was the HC.
From his time at Kansas State (GA 2006):
Ron Prince was the HC. James Franklin was the OC. Raheem Morris was the DC.
From his time at Northern Iowa (LB coach, Co-DC: 2007-2008):
Chris Klieman was the secondary coach. He is now the HC at North Dakota State and will probably be a BCS HC in a couple of years.
Erik Chinander was the TE coach. He followed Frost to Oregon, then followed Jerry Azzinaro and Chip Kelly from there to the Philadelphia Eagles, then returned to Oregon, where he is currently the LB coach (and has a reputation as a tireless recruiter).
From his time at Oregon: (WR. OC/QB: 2009-2015):
Jerry Azzinaro coached with Frost at Oregon from 2009-12. He is currently the DL coach for the Eagles and presumably will shortly be looking for a job. He . He is from New England and has extensive experience coaching and recruiting in the East, including a 4 year stint at Syracuse. He would probably be a candidate to be the DC.
Ryan Day is the QB coach with the Eagles. He has 9 years experience coaching at Temple and BC, with the last 3 as an OC. Given his familiarity with Kelly's system, one would think he would be on the same page as Frost. Would think he would be a strong candidate to coach QBs and be OC.
If Azzinaro is named the DC, Bill McGovern would make sense as a LB or DB coach. Another guy with extensive experience coaching and recruiting in the East, he was a force recruiting NJ for BC.
Bob Bicknell, son of Jack, is also on the staff of the Eagles and might be a fit as a TE or WR coach. Another guy from the East with experience recruiting this area.
Brian Smith is an LB coach with the Eagles. He went to UMass and coached there for a couple of years. He could also be a fit if Frost is looking for someone with ties to the East.
And Greg Austin is an OL coach with the Eagles. Attended Nebraska (he is also 10 years younger than Scott). Coached offense at Oregon with Scott from 2010-12. Could also be a fit.
