you got this, kid!

He has a big opportunity to emerge as a contributor who helps this team.

Hope he rises to the occasion. That's no sure thing, but I believe he is capable of adequately filling the role of defensive / rebounding specialist. He is an aggressive player.

Was just reviewing his list of offers again. Numerous successful P5 programs.
This is his 3rd year in the program now and he was showing progress last year.
I'm feeling confident that if he can avoid being a foul machine he'll provide good minutes for us.

I'm waiting to see if he can be the next big to improve with this staff. I want the Rak improvement to be the beginning of an upward trend. I don't doubt the staff for a second, that they have the knowledge. Just remember all the talk of them not being able to develop bigs. Here's to proving that wrong!

PLUS, he spent all of last year practicing against one of the top 2 or 3 low post players in college basketball. Hopefully, that accelerates his readiness.

He certainly looks the part. I'll give him that. Gonna have to show me something before I'm able to talk myself into not being petrified of the fact he has to give us 10-15 minutes per game.

Honestly, we only need him to be Jeremy McNeil. When you put it in those terms, I think it's doable.

Jeremy was an outstanding shot blocker and a reason our press was so effective in '03. Our press got us back in the OSU game in the tourney. I'm not sure Chino can be that kind of defensive weapon.

Believe me, I'm well aware of what Jeremy was. I'm saying in terms of being able to chip in some rebounds and a few blocked shots now and then.

I gotta tell you. This whole "waste of a scholarship" and "just here for Bryant" camp doesn't resonate with me. I see a long, athletic, and yes very raw player who certainly has the potential to develop into a BMK perhaps as early as this year.

Is the Chino of last year the level of player I want to see on a 10 (now 9) man roster? Of course not. But on a standard 13 man roster? In a heartbeat.

Every time I read his name I hear a whistle blow.
Well that's his challenge. Be agressive on D (and O) without dumb fouls. I would think he'll be better at this this coming season, but still proned to it at times. SU needs his presence and minutes. I'm sure the coaches will school him well on this.

1.Chino wasn't ready to play defense last year in particular laterally He needs to work on his laterally quickness and recovery near the rim hard the next few months, if anything. He was alot like a freshmen Fab Melo/Dajuan in that reguard.

2.I do think he has more offensive potential though then Craig Forth or Baye, I think he will grow into a guy who wants to use the hook shot 3-4 times per game his jr/sr seasons(not counting layups/off boards). I would expect maybe 1-2 per game this year, but if that goes well he will get more looks.

3.He averaged 1.6 rebounds per 6.8 minutes thats roughly 5 a half at that rate. he Had 4 against BC in 16 minutes and 3 at Duke and at ND in 12 and 10 minutes. I think he has suprise rebounding potential in him that alot of us aren't seeing because he can box out and plays below the rim and can rebound the ball for that type of player. I think Dajuan is also the same type of rebounder. They want to bump not only are the good at it. That being said...
I think we are going to be a very solid rebounding team this year we might not have a board eater or we might, but especially with Roberson and Mike on the wings and Chino/Dajuans knack to be physical for rebounds in the middle.

4. I think in terms of muscular strength this is our best frontcourt in a long time. I challenge you to find a year that is as muscular as those four with guys that actually got good minutes every game. You would have to go back awhile I would guess.

Arinze, Ricky, Wes, Kris was pretty damn good.

Yeah they were pretty strong but in terms of real strength I still got to give the tip to Dajuan/Chino/Roberson/Gbinije.
Kris was still a fresh that year muscle wise. Although Kris wasn't all that skinny for a fresh, 85% of our freshmen sf's are. He was probably our best dribbling perimeter forward for a fresh since Melo and welcomed the physical defense from opponents suprisingly well for a fresh.

I'm having a hard time coming up with a player in our program that had a bigger opportunity in front of them in recent history. Ennis maybe?
