I watched a good chunk of their game vs OK state and feel compelled to add a few thoughts. First off CMU has almost no run game. This a combo of a bad run blocking on O and a less then stellar stable of backs. From reading there board it seems they have only 1 Div 1A caliber back and hes to raw/young to make an impact at this point. From a passing standpoint they looked pretty good. No dominant WR but 3 or 4 guys who looked comfortable catching passes. Almost Wash State light just not nearly as potent. Defensively they were tough to get a read on as OK State didnt seem to show much and seemed almost like they were going through the motions. CMU's secondary looked pretty good but I dont recall them getting much pressure. You get the impression that guys with elite speed/skill could really bother them ie Estime, Fredericks. To bad Erv is out this would have been a great matchup. Offensively I think we need more of Fredericks this game vs Morris. This is also the type of game a guy like Lewis and Strickland could have a field day on intermediate routes. I worry a little bit the coaching staff might try and play it safe again and go with the Deleone run run pass punt O for the first half or so. I think this would be a big mistake waiting for a repeat of the big plays a la Wake is unlikely. SU needs to sustain some drives and convert third downs. Defensively I see a lot of Okie. I think bringing the house every play would be a mistake though. CMU thrived in the intermediate pass game vs OK State and after watching the Wake game im sure there O staff is salivating. Really need the D line to generate some pressure on its own this game and to not allow Rush to escape for big runs which he has the potential to do. I like SU to win but curious to see how the O and D respond after week. How does the O look with another game under Dungeys belt? Are we to conservatve? Was dissapointed Lester called a run on that third down pass Dungey hit Moore on. Need to be able to open things up at least a little bit. As for the D, last week clearly exposed a weakness so how do we respond. Any shakeups in the secondary? New blitz looks?
