Levert Named to U.S. Collegiate National Team - Europe Tour Roster
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Syracuse volleyball rising junior Leah Levert has been named to USA Volleyball's 12-player roster for its U.S. Collegiate National Team Europe roster, announced on Monday.
The squad, which is part of USA Volleyball's High Performance pipeline, will train and compete from July 6-16, 2016. The CNT-Europe team will have training matches against an Italian Federation Team July 7, 8, and 9 near Milan, Italy, before heading to Pula, Croatia, to play in the Global Challenge July 11-14.
Levert is one of three middle blockers named to the 2016 squad, joining middle blockers Molly Lohman from the University of Minnesota and Jazzmine McDonald from Indiana University.
The Savannah, Ga. native finished her sophomore campaign ranked first in the ACC and ninth in the nation in total blocks (168), helping the 2015 Orange to a best-in-the-nation 374.5 total blocks and 3.12 blocks per set. Her 168 total blocks on the season place her at fifth on the Syracuse record books for total blocks in a season. The middle blocker also racked up 175 kills throughout the season, the fourth-best mark on the team.
The team's coaching staff will be named later this spring. Athletes were selected through the U.S. Women's National Team Open Tryouts held Feb. 19-21 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
