Liberty game in doubt?

If they were an ACC team and they forfeited, we'd get a W and they'd get an L.

Unfortunately, if we don't play, we need to find 6 wins out of our remaining 11 games.

Maybe they won't have any practice for 2-3 weeks and be rusty coming into the cuse game.
So the whole team and staff will have to have 72 hour PCR testing before playing in order to enter the Dome?

ABC11 News reported on COVID-19 numbers at North Carolina universities, which are rising with the return of students.

  • North Carolina State University has had 348 COVID-19 cases in August. Half of those cases were detected in the last 10 days. More than 500 students are in isolation and quarantine.
  • University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill had 351 COVID-19 cases in August with around 100 detected on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Duke University has 246 cases.
  • At UNC Wilmington, nearly 500 students and staff tested positive in the last 10 days.
  • At North Carolina Central University, 81 students and employees tested positive.

More cases than all of Onondaga county.

Wonder how this will work. during the NY HS lacrosse season if there was a postive covid case on the team, none of the vaxed kids (or coaches) had to be quarantined or sit out. So if the team is vaxed the show goes on. Wonder how the colleges (and Syracuse) are going to handle this.

The South is the problem.

A disturbing trend to be sure. Glad we are not traveling down there.

Did a little research. Not only do they not require a COVID vaccination, they don't even recommend it.

They are scheduled to play Campbell this weekend, then at Troy and then they host Old Dominion. Troy's campus numbers are relatively good.

Here is my probabilities of the game being played for all the games on the 2021 schedule.

I also note if COVID vaccination is required for each school

Ohio, no 85%

COVID is ramping up but probably not enough time to shut down the campus

Rutgers, yes 95%

Albany, yes 90%

Liberty, no 65%
Assuming Liberty will do everything possible to make this game happen. I hope SU is requiring testing or vaccinations for everyone coming on campus

FSU, no 75%
Didn't see much discipline from this program last year. Lots of time for the students on campus to spread it to each other

Wake, yes 90%

Clemson, no 80%
They showed a fair amount of discipline last year and with so much on the line, I think they will again

VT, yes 85%

BC, yes 95%
Syracuse and BC were the only ACC schools that did not forfeit a game last season

UL, no 70%
The program has no discipline, different class of students, late in the season where I see UL losing a lot of games

NC State, no 75%
The school is already having issues. If they have a good year and have something to play for, it will help them. I think they will be better than UL, that is mostly why their number is better.

Pitt, no 75%
Surprised Pitt is not requiring vaccination. I hope they are able to keep things together.

I expect at least one opponent will not be able to field a team against Syracuse this season.

Sure , get a clue, the school openly discriminates against a segment of the population. Most conservatives do not, I would hope.

If the Dome Covid Protocols thread was locked (which was actually a useful thread and seemed to be a productive discussion without mentioning politics), how is this one still unlocked?

Regardless of how anyone feels about playing Liberty, my biggest fear is that a team that is loose with protocols (or just absent of them) gets our team infected.

It should be a blanket rule across the board that if a team cannot play bc of COVID, they forfeit that game. I don't care if it's Liberty, Alabama, us or an FCS school.

With this not being the case, if another school has this same issue on the same week and there can be an agreement made, we should be able to play a different team.

Sounding a little elitist. "The South" is not the problem. The virus is the problem.

(New cases are also on the rise in New England, west coast and mid-atlantic states. Cases are going up in states that have high vaccination rates and low vaccination rates.)
There’s a correlation between red state governors and slow vaccine numbers, of which many are in the south.

It’s not elitist at all. It’s facts.

Can we get a dome protocol post pinned? That would be useful.
