Kamron Wilson put up monster numbers in high school, recording 17 sacks and 52 tackles for loss as a senior. Like many signees, he will need to add some weight, but if he can do that, there’s no reason he couldn’t contribute immediately. He’s a strong run defender with proven pass-rushing ability, known for his speed rush and skill at shedding blocks to make plays in the backfield. The coaching staff has emphasized the importance of adding weight, and Kamron is aware. If he commits to that, he has a chance to play early as a true freshman, and at worst, he can contribute as a situational pass rusher during his first year.

I remember looking a week or two ago and pretty sure those were his Junior year stats and I couldn't find stats for his senior season.

I looked on the official Syracuse page and it said those were his senior stats. Maybe they couldn’t find the stats and just said it was his seniors

Hmm...

This is from 247 and these are 2024 stats:

2024: All-Dade selection by the Miami Herald. Had a breakout junior campaign, totaling 118 tackles (32 TFLs), 17 sacks and 4 FFs according to MaxPreps. Helped Southridge go 12-3 and reach the semifinals of Florida’s 6A playoffs.

This below is from Cuse.com signing day: (I find it interesting that he again had 17 sacks in 2025 but its possible. And obviously something is incorrect in the tackles department so unsure how to view the accuracy of what is stated here)

High School: Rated four stars by ESPN and three stars by 247Sports and Rivals … ESPN ranks him as the No. 30 defensive end in the class of 2026 … Played high school football at Miami Southridge under Pierre Senatus, helping lead the team to District and Regional Championships … Had 17 sacks, 60 solo tackles, 52 tackles for loss, 80 total tackles and a pair of touchdowns as a senior … District Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year … Finished his career with the most sacks in Miami Southridge history … First Team All-State and All-Dade … Two-time team captain … Also competed in track in high school.

Not sure how accurate MaxPreps is but they show a significantly less plays made by him as a senior in 10 games played. And they do not match at all what Cuse.com says. Note that the 2024 MaxPreps stats match what 247 shows above for 2024.

Max preps lags on stats sometimes. If they played in district and regional championship games they would have had to play more than 10 games

Max preps stats are input by coaches and/or fans.

We desperately need pass rush, and this is a highly rated recruit -- so I envision that he'll be given every opportunity to earn PT.

Problem is he's "light" for a DE. He'll probably end up being an "edge" in the mold of Diggs, sometimes playing with his hand down, but sometimes not / shifting around to create matchup problems.

DE was a huge gap on this year's team, and is a huge need heading into the offseason. Wilson and that kid we flipped from Penn State need to produce. Probably need to get at least one, and possibly two, starting caliber transfers via the portal.

Pretty sure stats in MaxPreps are entered by the HS coaching staff. Looks like his HS went 11-2 on the season. Kamron had about half the tackles as the season before and only 12 TFLs and 3 sacks where as he had 32 TFLs and 17 sacks the year prior. It appears he played at least 10 games so wasn’t injured a lot. Wondering if they maybe moved him to the interior this season. Statistics reduction seems odd otherwise. Will be interested in seeing if he puts out a senior season compilation film on Hudl. Looks like he has some individual gems on there but I didn’t check those out.

Agree on needing 1 or more likely 2 starting caliber DE’s from the portal. I think we need the same at DT as well. Injuries happen and we need a lot more bodies for a rotation. We are very light on sheer numbers, at least on ones who have seen any significant action yet. We were 4 deep at both DT position this year going into the year and it wasn’t too much.

It's not realistic to expect him to be an impact player in 2026. We need portal help until these freshmen have a couple years in the weight room.
