Okay, I haven't been on top of Cuse basketball as much as I usually am because I have been super busy but here's my 2 cents... 1.) In my opinion, Howard's progression from year 1 to year 2 is paramount for our stability on offense next year. If he progresses, like he should, I will be a lot more optimistic about our team moving forward. 2.) Battle is going to be great, if he can stay healthy. Lord, please let him stay healthy. 3.) Okay, so the Coleman enigma is the one issue I've been really invested in. Coming out of high school, he reminded me of of Jared Sullinger. Both 6'9, big, but at the same time, smaller centers, whose production was linked to their aggressive play. Then he was injured and when he came back, not only was he rusty but hesitant, which hindered his effectiveness. I can relate to that. Kid got a major knee injury. I too, sustained a major knee injury playing college football. When I came back, mentally, it slowed me down. My knee was healthy again, but in the back of my head I was nervous about re-injuring it. It made me hesitant and changed the way I played, which, ironically, led to injuring it again. I feel that it was a big part of Coleman's issue. He was healthy, but in the back of his head he was nervous about messing up his knee again. I get it, I can relate, but now that he went the whole year, without re-injury, my hope is he will put that behind him. If he does, I think were going to see a different Coleman. Say what you will about his ability and what we saw last year, but I'm willing to bet that his mental state about re-injury was a big part of how he played last season. Kicking the rust off + being able to play without worry = a different player this year. 4.) No clue what we're going to get out of Chukwu BUT 7'2 in the middle of the zone has me sooooooooo excited. All the kid needs to do is be coordinated to be effective. I think our defense is going to be fantastic. Jury is still out on our offense but defensively, I think it is going to be really fun to watch.
