kid can play. My heart goes out to hunt. To have the year he had last season and how hard he trained and prepared it's sad to see him go down like that. But man Dungey looks legit. He had some perfect passes. He also made some very small freshman mistakes but the sky is the limit for Eric!

I liked where he put his passes. Strong and quick arm. Did not stare down his receivers.
The competition was weak but he made good decisions.

Maybe most impressively - Shafer said after the game that they won't have to limit the playbook at all. Dungey knows it 100%.

There will be lots of growing pains, but that the playbook won't change is a very good thing.

Shafer also said the stayed in their basic package. That there was tons that they didn't show. Encouraging.

YES, IT WAS RHODE ISLAND for all or you negative nabobs. However, the kid could only play against the team on the field and what he did was impressive. He seems to have a good accurate arm, a quick delivery and POISE. He is apparently a smart quick learner. Hopefully, we have another Nassib in the making (maybe better because he can run).

Quite frankly, I didn't see what all the fuss was about with this kid, but to learn the offense so quickly and to jump in the first game and take command is impressive even if it is against the Little Sisters of the Poor. I get the feeling that he is going to pleasantly surprise us against Wake - after all, we will wear ORANGE unis!

i like him a lot very cool customer, but yes he did stare down receivers 4-5 times --3 right in front of me

He did and he would have had one picked off if not for being batted at the line because the corner jumped the route. Those things are fixable.

What's weird is that Lester said the exact opposite. They would have to scale back the playbook.

Agreed...he threw two deep outs, one that was completed and the drop by AC that I think turn into a pick 6 against A lot of teams.

But if they can teach him to look off safeties etc...he's got the arm.

Coach speak, who knows - probably in the middle then.

Coach-speak aimed at Clawson?

I think Lester is being honest and Shafer was just going with the coachspeak.

It's just not realistic that a freshman who arrived in August would have the confidence of the coaches to do anything in the playbook by a week 2 league opener. No matter how smart he is.

People need to prep themselves for some very rough patches on offense this season. It's not the end of the world, we should get payback for the investment later. Lester is really going to earn his $.

There will be more injuries too, just the way it goes in this sport. Especially for us.

Dungey looks to have been well-coached. His basic fundamentals plus his natural ability make it look like he can have success.

He missed by a few inches on a couple of passes that would have made his night even better.

All in on the kid. Let's keep this train rolling.

Yeah, his passes look effortless and precise. Kid is smooth. He needs to master the "get down and slide" fast or he might get killed on his scrambles and runs. Yikes.
Yup, don't want to see him challenge some of the big, fast, hostile defenders in the ACC or at LSU.

Then you should have jumped the route
no i was to tired. i was sweating more than the players. the dome was the hottest i ever experienced. not sure why but the blowers were not even helpfull . i have been in the dome when it has been packed and it wasn't as hot as last night. maybe its because i am older

One indisputable thing can be said about Dungey is that he has his cliches down pat. He thanked everybody but me. Sounded like that scene from Bull Durham.

I'm with you on both counts -- heat and age. I actually think they need to address the stadium issue b/c I think it's a major issue for the casual fan (which many here disdain, but you need them to fill the place). I'm displaced but the idea of spending a beautiful Saturday afternoon in the fall or even a really pleasant Friday night in the fall in the stuffy done watching a decent but not particularly good football team is not an appealing proposition.

Yeah, have to feel like that impacts attendance to at least some degree
i left at the end of the 3rd quarter because it was so hot---and drove back to bethlehem pa

I liked what I saw from Dungey but it is too early to call him the solution at QB. It was only a year ago that a true freshman went 16-27 167 yards 2 TD 2 INT 120.8 QB rating with 3 rushes for 20 yards in his 1st game playing against the #1 team in the nation.
