Honestly, the goal in this new era is not a bowl. Who cares if they’re 7-5 and make a bowl where everyone opts out and we get blasted by a crappy team from directional Florida? This year and schedule was set up for something great and it will be very hard to recapture that. The fan base, the opportunity, the roster. Everything. This is a really devastating loss.

Exactly. Summed it up perfectly. In this era you either have a chance to contend for the playoffs or you’re just going through the motions. We just got nut kicked from the former into the latter.

Really really hard to keep going through this and finding a will to stay invested.

We seem to forget the formation Stan ran that last play out of made it much harder to double. They went 2 RB and then motion. They had Wheel routes on both side to handle and other things that they had not shown all game.

You can add the pick 6 that should not have happened, that was on Villari.

Also, after that awesome Grant interception deep in Stanford territory our offense did zilch and we had to settle for three.

Just a bad game all around. The Ga Tech game showed that we can be a good football team when we play with intensity and the Stanford game showed we aren’t nearly good enough to not play that way and get away with it. We keep playing like last night, we would go 4-8. I don’t expect that to happen so I hope they learn from this and become better. Our issues in the trenches are still there no matter what but we have very good skill position players who can win us a decent amount of games.

If this team cannot run the ball we are back to be a mediocre team. Teams that can stop the run and make us one dimensional will just dominate us. They pin their ears back, get off the ball and just burn our oline.

We need to establish a run early and often. I know we have a bright shiny new qb who is probably the best thrower we’ve ever had in orange and blue but we need our identity to be running the football. We have three rbs and two TEs who are strictly blockers. They should NEVER be allowed to go out for a route ever again (that is gonna bite me since Villari will shock me and get a game winning td - but his lack of recognition on that pick 6 is astounding).

If we can’t run the ball we need to be doing way more screens or late draws to Allen. Allen is a beast and can make the difference for this team.

Our defense is truly bend but don’t break style. We lack a true pass rush and any semblance of being able to get off the ball quickly.
