A team loaded with McDonald All-Americans and top 30 players should not be having a down year and struggle with the rest of the low quality ACC teams. Lively, Mitchell, Whitehead and Filipkowski. They also have Roach, also an upperclassman burger boy.
Lively and Whitehead are not that good. You can’t compare the two of them to prior top 10 recruits at Duke. They lack toughness and purpose. Scheyer has to stop giving players high fives and slap them you know where?
Filipowski is solid, but those other guys haven’t been very good. All overhyped.
For me personally, it depends on what he's saying. If he's super intense but is just screaming things like "you need to hustle more!" or "you need to be more unselfish!" that's harmless. It's when it becomes abusive and personal that it becomes a problem.
Lively and Whitehead are ranked 1 and 2 in ESPN top 100. It's not 1/2 Zion and Barrett in terms of talent but any team with the top 2 players in class, Filipowski at 7 and Mitchell 28 should be playing a lot better. If this was us instead of Duke we'd be calling for Boeheim's head. Hell, most of us here are near a nervous breakdown with the inconsistent play of this vaunted current class of one player, Mintz at 36 and a bunch of players outside the top 100.
I couldn't stop laughing over the summer when I read an article naming the Top 10 or so college basketball coaches, and Scheyer was at the top of the list before coaching a single game because he had the number 1 recruiting class. The internet is a wild place.
