I'm as big a Scoop supporter as anyone, but he was mostly playing like today and JB sat his @ss on the bench.
I'd like to hear from the experts who informed us that Scoop would be in the end of all games no matter what.

:)

he seemed fine with it.

We were at the bonus with 10 minutes left, as if he needed any more reason to bench him he definitely didn't want to send him to the line.

i'm just glad this whole scoop-dion contract for the last 20 minutes of a game seems to have expired.

At the start of the year, I said Scoop was a 5th yr Sr and he would get more min than any other guard. Don't remember anyone saying he would be in at crunch time in every game though. JB plays people that he feels are playing well so to say he would be in there all the time would be foolish.

I dont mind him playing bad but loafing back on d the whole time is inexcuseable so much so that even the commentators are calling you out

There are at least 3 posters who've proclaimed in the past month or so that we would only see Scoop-Dion as the backcourt to finish games for the rest of the season. Their theory being that, no matter how badly Scoop might play, JB simply would not sit him in favor of Triche or MCW.
I'm not glad Scoop had a bad game, just pointing out that today's game proved that theory wrong.

Scoop was on the bench because JB was coaching to win the game and that was likely not happening if he hadn't pulled the plug on Scoop when he did. Who he has out there at the end will continue to be dictated by game situations and none of the three primary guards is a lock to be out there.

mea culpa for that and more . . . JB played 9 guys for genuine minutes in a meaningful game . . . didn't think we'd ever see that.

Same expiration date as the must start Rak clause. Must have been in the fine print, just for the regular season.

JB demonstrated why he is a HOF...Scoop did not have it today either mentally or physically. His loafing on defense went beyond the play the commentators questioned. He also was on the side of most of the 3 pointers made by UConn.

On that note, Scoop has come through a number of times for the team so he should get a pass this time around. But now he really knows...loaf and make mental mistakes, JB will take you out and sit you on pine.

Exceptions sometimes prove the rule.

Scoop was off today in early parts of the game, and BT was hustling and active at his best (though wish he could have finished a couple of his chances). Team was struggling on offense -- needed to make a second half run, with James & Dion leading the charge.

Not the "normal" situation where Scoop & Dion were closing out games, nursing an 8 point lead.

JB did a great job in seeing that today was the day for BT, James and (earlier) RAK.

Great Article: Scoop Says Distractions Are Sign of ‘Disrespect’

“Everything that they’ve been talking about…actually it disrespects us because this is our season. For myself, this is my final season. For everything to be coming up now, it’s kind of like a disrespect and it brings us closer together and it makes us hungry to go out and prove people wrong.

Doris Burke is dumb as a bag of hammers.

Scoop got poked in the eye on that runner; he didn't get back, but he wasn't loafing.

Only saw the last ten during lunch, and not to be worrisome, but that is two bad games in a row for Scoop. Not good come tourney time.

First, Scoop was having an awful day, and JB did the right thing. It's the luxury of having 4 good guards, if one is out of sorts - keep him on the bench. I thought JB was pushing too many minutes in the first half as well tbh.

Second, I could swear that after he took that shot he was playing with his eye like it got poked, and then pulled his jersey up to wipe it. The replay only showed him pulling his jersey up to which Doris said he was loafing because he wanted to adjust his top - which isn't what it looked like to me in full speed. Anyone see the play clearer? He couldn't have got back anyway fwiw - he would have been the third in line regardless and the other two couldn't even get back in time.

***Edit: Never mind - saw the answer after that by otto.
