Dad was a teammate of Wilt on the Sixers and won a Gold Metal in the 1964 Olympics.

My memory here is as a kid watching Luke play for Cuse and my dad (Sixer fan) telling me that Luke’s dad played for the Sixers.

That is a sad news indeed, but at first i was thinking we were talking about Cuse's Luke Jackson. Always thought he was an underrated player here and happy he is OK -- would have been really young. Anyway, RIP to the family. Some good genes in that group.

Lucious Jackson was a fierce rebounder. Swung his elbows to keep opponents away. During the Sixers' championship playoff run in 1967, he averaged 11.7 rebounds a game playing next to Wilt.

That team was one of the best one-year championship teams in history. Held the single season W-L record for a couple of decades. Wilt, Luke, Chet 'The Jet' Walker, Hal Greer, and Wali Jones were the starters. Sixth man was Billy Cunningham.

If Moten hadn't called that timeout, we would have remembered Luke's steal vs. Arkansas as one of the most important plays in SU NCAA tourney history. But unfortunately it didn't work out that way.
