I love how every post is now defending the ineptness of the coaching staff and blaming the fans for not trusting the system.. I was not the one that recruited 3 freshmen QB with the expectation that none of them would play. I was not the one that listed Carney as QB#3. I was not the one that played him in the Colgate game, instead of Villari or Fillardi, who we are led to believe is just so much better of a QB. We could have just taken a knee too. I was not the one that put him in the Pitt game when Collins was struggling. If FIllardi was so much better that Carney, why not use him then??? I am not the one that started Fillardi and led to an embarrassment of 21 pts off our offense/special teams. I am not the one that put Carney in at that point. Why not put Collins in? If the team could not explain to Collins that he was going to be QB#2 to Fillardi, then they are terrible communicators. Why does QB1 (Collins) drop off the map completely just because FIllardi or anyone else gets a start? Same with the UNC game. Rickie--we are giving FIllardi a try, but be ready to go in if necessary and be the hero. He played against Miami, so it's not like he quit on the team at that point. What I did see is that Carney was, by far, the fastest of our QBs. He was also the only one to not turn the ball over in his limited work. Sure, he only had X number of plays. How many plays did it take Fillardi to embarass us against ND? If running is Carney's primary skill, despite 10,000 high school passing yards, why did we recruit him to THIS system? If running is his primary skill, then why not tailor the offense to him for a game? We already have other running QBs to run the scout team. Perhaps a third pass-first QB for our system? Who runs the scout team when we are up against a pass-first QB? Nobody?
