It is a critical position on a successful lacrosse team.  I believe he was rated as a 4 or 5 star lacrossse player coming out of high school.  He committed to SU first as a lacrosse player and then had discussions with Fran and the football coaching staff and with Gary Gait's blessing decided to be a walkon on the football team.  I believe he wasn't recruited more highly by P4 schools for football was because everyone believed he was going to play lacrosse, not football.  Joe has played his heart out on behalf of this football team.  He should not be disparaged for being the QB the coaches chose to play.

ADDENDUM - for all of you SU football fans who do not follow the SU Men's Lacrosse team -- it is time to.  It is the one team that will likely have a very good year.  Many of us believe it has a real good shot at winning this year's NCAA National Championship.  And for those of you who don't know, Syracuse University has won more men's lacrosse NCAA Championships than any other school -- 11 in reality (10 in the eyes of the NCAA).  And, as mentioned on yesterday's TV broadcast on NBC, the player thought by many as the greatest lacrosse player of all time --- Jim Brown -- is also considered by many to be the best football player of all time.  And he played at SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY!!!   [He also played on the basketball team and the track team.]
