Lunardi shouldn’t be heard from before I get my snowblower out. It’s July and there is no snow right now. Can he wait til December ?

This makes me think of what I consider to be the litmus test for winter happiness. I live in southern Indiana which is roughly equivalent to "virginia" weather.

If I get my last yard-mow of the year in by the time basketball season has started in early November, it means we didn't have an early start to Winter. If I get my first mow of the year in when the basketball team is still playing, it means spring is on-time and we made it to the second weekend of the tourney.
Like using the sun for a compass, it's my favorite natural "no numbers necessary" way to judge if it was a good winter.
