It would be an interesting experiment, but Lydon would be unable to guard Pitt's smaller, quicker guards (Robinson, Wilson, Smith). Plus we need his size up front against Pitt.

What do you mean guard? Cooney doesn't guard anybody. He guards a 2-3 foot radius around his area in the zone and if you spot up outside of that or dribble past that, you get a wide open shot.Huh? Are you suggesting Lydon replace Cooney (at the 2)?
