Nope. FAthought he was on Buffalo practice squad
I must say when he was a sophomore I really thought he was just there as a legacy and wouldn't amount to much. He was too small and got pushed all over the place. He was the weak link. Well, Macky came full circle and made himself into one helluva center. I am glad to say his hard work proved me wrong. Sorry I doubted him - Macky is a champion.
It would be great to have him on the SU staff.
My take is and was to respect the coach's ability to judge talent. You weren't the only one who thought he was too small and that it was only because of Coach Mac that Macky got a shot. There were quite the number posts denouncing Macky's actual ability to play DI ball. Thankfully the coaches don't listen to the fan base
Hard to not root for the guy!
As they say, if you listen to the fans you will soon be sitting with them! You weren't the only one who thought he was too small and that it was only because of Coach Mac that Macky got a shot. Of course, but coaches have to settle for those they can recruit. Often times, they are choosing between less than ideal candidates. My take is and was to respect the coach's ability to judge talent.
Could be...but I still don't bash the kids. From a judgment standpoint, I let it play out and figure I will find out in 4 years whether or not the kid deserved a scholarship. A kid like Macky was under enough scrutiny ...didn't need to hear from people who never saw him play a down tell everyone he wasn't any good before he eventually became the leader of the team.Of course, but coaches have to settle for those they can recruit.
