Just spitballing here, but would Madei Williams ever be interested in being a college QB coach (and beyond)? He's a rising star as a private QB coach, and clearly, people are taking notice:

He still bleeds Orange, so I'm just kind of wondering if, sometime down the road, there might be a position for him on the SU staff...

Trade-off. Private coach/tutor you set your schedule, spend all your time working with the kids. Pay? Probably not awesome. College coach, you get more $, and spend some time with the kids... but also spend a lot of time and effort on recruiting - and time away from home.

I still curse the day that Madei hurt his hand in practice in August of 1999.

It did set off an interesting chain of events. Madei never recovered mentally from it.

I remember thinking that his performance in that Michigan game was going to set him right. If only we were kicking a field goal at the end to send it to OT. Siggggghhhhhh.

That is pretty cool that he seems to be such a great ambassador for Syracuse when you consider that, let's be honest, his career probably didn't quite live up to what he expected when he came here.

Agreed. Madei was terrific against Michigan. If we had pulled that game out with him at the helm, it may have changed the course of the next several seasons.

The rotation that we employed that season was so tone deaf. I really think that if Madei was the unquestioned starter and had time to work through the normal hiccups of a sophomore taking over a team things would have been much better.

Nunes was DeLeone's binky and it really screwed things up.

what happened to medei's hand. all i remember about him is he had a cannon.

From where most of us were sitting, Nunes shouldn't have even come back into the game in the second half. Madei was exponentially better that night.

Agreed. We were in the stands scratching our heads wondering what the hell was going on that kept Nunes in the rotation in that game. It wasn't even close in terms of productivity.

Who was the fullback from Baldwinsville on that '99 team? George Scott? Was that his name? He grew up on the same block where my aunt and uncle lived.

I just remember that was my freshman year, and we were in the lounge on Sadler 6 watching the Toledo game, and he scored a touchdown and everyone was like, "who the hell is that dude," to which I stood up and responded, "That's George Scott b!tch!"

Which got people mocking me for the rest of the year over getting excited about a backup fullback.

Hurt his pinky finger in practice. I believe it happened in mid-camp and there was question if he'd even be ready to play in the opener at Toledo.

If he bleeds Orange, then why isn't Brown committed to SU and not BC?

I thought that would give us a leg up too, But Madei can't hold a gun to the guy's head if he felt more comfortable at Boston College.

He's bad at forcing kids to go to his alma mater when they may want to go somewhere else?

Revoke his degree!

Did he get a degree? I thought he had transferred out by then. If so, then maybe that's the problem, somebody get him a degree!

That game was totally infuriating for everyone watching it. Tom Brady especially.

After that performance (and his performance against us in 1998), I probably would not have purchased much Tom Brady great NFL QB stock.

Funny world.

He looked like dogsh!t against us. Twice. Once against Deleone's D.
