... while sitting on the Duke bench next to Cooper Flagg. They are both injured and not playing, but the camera has been on Flagg (and hence Maliq) for half the game.

I mean, love Maliq and wish he stayed here for sure. Can’t fault the kid at all. Seems like a good kid, good basketball player. He’s not flashy but he’s a kid you NEED on your team to be a great team. He does all the little things very well.

Probably never gonna be an NBA player, might make it as a defensive player alone cause he is a hell of a defender and rebounder. But smart of him to cash in now when he’s guaranteed the money cause he’s not guaranteed a big contract in the NBA. Probably overseas though if he wants too. Also we all just saw what Autry was capable of this season…do you blame Maliq for getting out of the Autry show and wanting to go play for a national championship. It sucks for us to say cause we are big Syracuse fans. But take your orange colored glasses off and the kid did the right move in hindsight

He got an offer from a program he felt he couldn’t and shouldn’t refuse.
Which kind of begs the question whether the offer resulted from him shopping himself. Duke swooping in with an unsolicited offer is something different.

Agreed, but the guy who recruited him left and his good friend got booed and left. Lots of reasons not to stay.

The way Brad Brownell praised him in his pressers last year after playing Syracuse, I’m sure he would have or did try to get Maliq as well. Probably just got outbid by Duke.

A couple more years at Duke should make him a millionaire upon graduation. He could make the NBA if a team recognizes his value as a bench/role player who can do all the little things that helps a team. He’s not a guy who is going to hurt the team and is a great value as a second round pick.

I thought he was an Autry recruit.

I am the biggest Maliq fan as shown by my posts over the last year or so.

He's not an NBA guy. And that's another reason why it was so bad that he left.

He's a guy who is going to help any team he is on. He'll make money overseas. If there is any shot of him willing to come back, Syracuse should do all in its power to get him back.
