I have somewhat recently purchased a home here in the bucolic Garden State. One of the things I wanted to make sure I had was a basement. Now that I have one, I need to turn a portion of it into a man cave. Yesterday I went to Home Depot and bought some orange and blue paint. Maybe I should've just bought just blue? Anyway, before it gets too far down the line, what would be some Man Cave requirements or must haves? It'll be primarily SU themed, but there will be some other sports stuff sprinkled in. Any suggestions are appreciated.

stripper pole, kegerator, tv. That's all a man really needs.

To me a must have (if in the budget) is some sort of fridge, mini, half, full whatever just need one. Nothing worse than having to run upstairs to get a new drink every 10 min err... half hour. OBviously a wetbar/kegerator is a plus but the fridge sometimes gets an easier pass from the wife since she can keep her wine/mixers in it too

Over the years I've held onto Post Standard front pages from great moments like winning the title, beating Miami 66-13, winning in East Lansing, etc. Should I ever be fortunate enough to have a home and a man cave I intend to frame some of those and hang them about.

SIGNED DIVORCE PAPERS

Already accounted for this by designating a section of the basement for the wife for her scrapbooking. Her "Scrappers Cove" is already up and running. I wish that there was a bathroom in the basement. I'll either have to run upstairs, buy Depends, or see if the French drains can multitask.

You live in NJ... Isn't it normal to just pee on the floor?

make sure you do it soon. I have a home office with tons of great SU memoribilia (ball signed by entire '03 team) banners, jerseys, tix stubs etc. Bunch of baseball stuff too. But after 3 years in my home, its all still sitting in boxes in the office. Get it set up asap or it will never get set up

My advice is to stop calling it a man cave and just call it your basement. I have no idea why but the idea that guys are proud of having a corner of their basement for their 'guy stuff' is annoying to me.

As for essentials for sports viewing, I have but one -- a DVR. I can't watch live sports anymore, it drives me insane. I record it and then watch it later when I don't have to sit through the endless drivel, sideline interviews and clicheed sports commentary ... oh yeah, and the commercials.

My man cave: pool table, tabletop shuffleboard, kegerator, bar, fridge and big screen. All needed all loved. I would like a pinball machine and golden tee game, though!

plus a urinal

I would have got a pinball machine in mine, but those frickin things frustrated me as kid and probably would frustrate me even frickin more.
