The schools that are in P5 conferences (includes the former Pac12 schools) are defendants along with the NCAA in the House case. So by definition by agreeing to the proposed settlement of that case they are agreeing to all of its terms. One of them, as proposed, is the new roster limits. I believe 48 for men's lacrosse & 38 for women's lacrosse. And no scholarship limit, up to the roster limit. The only things for schools to determine is 1) how many scholarships to give, up to the roster limit, and 2) whether to compensate athletes, which for the next academic year is capped at a total of $20.5 million. Syracuse has no choice but to agree to the settlement, including the roster limits. If the judge approves the settlement. What I believe Wildhack said is that Syracuse will provide the full $20.5 million in compensation. But he did not say how it would be allocated among the various sports. He has no choice on the roster limits. Schools not in P5 conferences can choose to abide by the rules of the settlement or not. I've read, maybe on IL, that in lacrosse, it is expected that only the ACC & B1G teams will use the terms of the settlement. It isn't expected that other schools, not in the P5 conferences, will opt in. So far I am not aware that any other school has said they will opt in. There is a thread on the House case settlement I believe on the Football Forum. I don't believe Syracuse has announced how many scholarships they will give. In football the old scholarship limit was 85. Under the House case settlement the roster limit is 105.
