A real gamer.

Pretty much the only guy who can be counted on to catch the ball on a given play.

Not big, not fast, not physically dominating, but he just knows how to compete.

i think lemon/sales are going to catch most everything.. west needs a bit more concentration but is making some strides and tough to bring down.

if Flemming was out playing these guys in practice how well was he playing?

Agree 100%, glad he is back. Just always seems to be around the ball and open.

I was thinking the same? Wow

we still need the YAC yards. the USC kids get 75% of the yards that way. they turn screens into 20 yd gains we turn them into 5-7. the only one right now who tends to get extra yards is west and i think Gulley is getting some when he has some space. every player on USC had plays like that yesterday. and NW did it too many times as well last week.

The USC playmakers did make some plays and their speed helped but their line also sealed the opening for them, unlike Stevens when he wiffed on his block.

I mentioned the YAC in another thread. I would love to see what the official stats were for that category, especially through the first three quarters. We got crushed.

Speaking of YAK, Wales had some nice grabs in traffic ... but he's got cement in his shoes after he catches the ball. Where in the heck was stevens? We need playmakers at the skill positions ... Please Stevens and Flemming ... get healthy ...so Ryan's got some options.

The first TD when he reached behind him to catch that bullet Nassib delivered was a really difficult play to make

That was a catch you make to beat a team like USC, very nice play.

AFter watching Thompson during some practices, he would have made the two point conversion catch. He's quicker and has great hands.

He's the difference so far. As we hoped he would be. Making the most of his 2nd chance.

I think West can be as good as Sales and Lemon. He needs more confidence and needs to continue making the plays he has been making.

I could be wrong but he seems to always catch the ball. The one INT against Northwestern was a bad break

Sales has always been a gamer Doug didnt know how to deal with him which is why he was wasted his first year. As to next year if Foster can come back Doug has mentioned him as a game changer. Flemming Foster West Kobena Chris and Funder who i believe will be our best reciever since Williams are going to light it up next year. Add in a TE Group that is going to be our best in years and we are going to be pretty scary on O. Something tells me that Charlie will be our starting QB next year and that he will light it up in this O.

Actually I think that is backwards.

Marcus Sales is Stevie Johnson... Neither are too fast or too tall but both are number 1 receivers who get open against anyone and can rip your heart out with that one drop

Sales is a very good college receiver. He rarely drops, and this was apparent his freshman year. And he gets open. He had 8 catches yesterday coming off a game against a decent Big10 team where he had 11 catches.

I actually dont remember a real drop by one of our guys...This year has been one where I think they have caught everything that they should. There have been one or two that I can remember where it would have been a difficult catch for them to make and they didnt come down with it but there really hasnt been a catch where a guy was wide open and we dropped it like usual previous years. I just cant wait for QUINTA FUNDERBURK next year

YAC should be in the box score. It's a huge stat.

Poliquin says the QB should be credited only with the elgnth of the pass, the reciever the rest. I don't think that would work, (a screen pass would make his stats worse and what about when the hits a receiver in stride- he gets no credit for the yards the guy ran with the ball after that?)

Well, West's second-down drop on our first drive may well have cost us points. That was a real drop.

Kobena's short-arm routine was quite catchable, though it might not be fair to call it a drop.

Bottom line: I'm very happy to have Sales back. Kid just gets open.

When Lemon gets healthy, they are going to make a helluva tandem. And West looks improved, Wales looks like a stud, Kobena shows promise, and I'm eager to see what Fleming brings to the table.

Wasn't that long ago that we couldn't even field a lineup with two competent WRs, with a big dropoff from there. Welcome change.

Sales is the man, has that ability to find seperation and great hands, Im a fan.
