Marrone on Raymon waiver

I agree with your sentiment about Marrone. Anyone who knows Marrone well knows how much he cares about these kids. I truly believe that the active mentorship approach he takes with his players (1) helps him recruit to the players and (perhaps more importantly) to the players' families, and (2) makes these kids better people by the time they graduate. He is like Coach Mac on steroids in that respect. In the end, I believe that Raymon will benefit from the extra year here on campus--both as a player and as a person.

If Marrone was that "vocal" about Raymon in his presser, I can't imagine how infuriated he was when they found out. Good for him for sticking up for one of his kids, and shame on the NCAA for being useless as usual.

This seems like a clearcut "hardship" case. The "looking good" comments were clearly based on prior NCAA waivers in what SU considered similar circumstances. So their declining this request must be inconsistent with existing precedents. What else is new? Par for the course. But I can see how DM would be furious. Way to go, Doug!

Feel really bad for John, but agree that the extra year will only help in the long run.

He doesn't get an extra year. He redshirted at Iowa last year.

There is no extra year to be had. If he got the waiver he would have had 4 years of eligibility, but now he has to forfeit this one. He'll have 3 years left to play.

Yes, but he will get to practice this year and that has got to help him develop. Best we have.
And, good for Doug.,

This is the best I have ever read about Marrone talking about a player or situation. No coach speak, just total support for the kid and angst versus the NCAA.

Well done, Doug. Awesome actually. Too bad the news is what it is.

Great job by Dave to follow up with Zian Jones question.

Doug very open about the progress Jones has made, and that Walls will help second half.

Pugh will be back , Fleming will be back.

Mid season Pitt, first time since he's been here that "every one will be back".
