I've never given a about this type of stuff, but I will say, he is really fun to watch on the sidelines now. I thought there were a few times he was going to spear the refs. You can really tell it gets the players going.

I don't know if it helps, but it sure makes me feel better seeing him animated. I think it just shows all of us that he's clearly into the game in a very real way. His passion incites passion in his players and think he really helped them last nite with his intensity.

Yeah you're so right Shenex and I've been saying this for years and occasionally battling over it here. Having had both types of coaches I can tell you it really does help and make a difference if it's appropriate contextually when the circumstances warrant. If it's too rah rah and times that don't make sense then it can be counter productive, but done the way Marrone is doing it seems natural and is so working. Gets you so fired up as a player. It's great to see.

I really think he needs a stuffed animal to use as a motivator. If he'd only do that, he'd be a helluva coach.

Absolutely, "done the right way" it makes a difference - especially in the college game. Since the Pitt game, HCDM is bringing it the right way & the team is using it to gut out a couple of very close, crucial wins.

Hmmm...what kind of animal do you envision?

He did a great job showing the ref that the USF center moved the ball forward from just short of the 25 to the 25 yard line after they converted that "3rd down" at the SU 25 in the 4th quarter. It forced the ref throw a flag for illegal snap that penalty was called because of Marrone. He has improved greatly on the sideline since the Minnesota game. He knows the Big East refs won't give us anything without him calling it out.

Oh you gotta be focking kidding me!!! I know we're leaving the BE next year, but get off your knees ref.

I also think that it will help DM enjoy himself a lot more. I have been a supporter of DM's since he was hired yet one of his biggest faults has been to much stoicism. It was obvious that last years season and how he handled it really wore him down. By showing his emotions and passion on the field, he will find that he enjoys himself and his career choice a lot more than in the past. If we haven't turned the corner as a program, he has turned the corner as a coach.

He had every right to get into the officials after that 'time-out'. lol. We snapped the ball as their player ran through our backfield...and won the game. And that was after Sales crossed the plane and won the game the first time.

Then the pass to lemon won the game for a third time. Pretty hard for that one official to deny us the victory at that point (it was verging on USA - Russia for a while there).

At least the head referee (who's at least competent), put a few seconds back on the clock.

He was dropping cluster -Bombs on those refs during the last few minutes, particularly over the clock issues He was not going to let them take away our chance to win. BTW, that was some of the WORST game clock work I had seen in awhile. We had 6 seconds vanish from the clock, from 33 to 27, and then the whole goal line BS with the timeout/official review. Thank God they put that back to 6 seconds.

No kidding. It was a joke. I was screaming at the TV. So glad we're getting out of this hell hole conference with their inept refs.
