... is staying at FSU despite being projected as a first round pick. How do they pull that off while we have a WR leaving that probably won't get drafted? Why can't we have nice things?

Before anyone jumps to conclusions, this is not a criticism of the staff. It is simply a lament at how it seems like we're always having to swim against the current.

For ever Wilson they have they will have 10-15 kids leave after 3 years.
I used to get disappointed/upset with our kids leaving early.
I just look at they are doing what they feel is right for them and they have their reasons for doing it and I truly wish them nothing but the best and I’ll remember the time they spend a Cuse with a smile.

Rumors are that Bama is going to convince a bunch of their studs to return. Was an article in the athletic about it.

Sure. But the 10-15 that leave are mostly high picks that will be replaced by the next 4 or 5 star guy. We lose our most productive guy that won't be drafted. It hurts us more.

maybe he wants his degree
Maybe. I've been told on here that guys can do that while collecting their 7 digure paychecks. Regardless, it feels unfair.

Recruiting is recruiting. It never ends. You recruit kids to your program and then you have to continue to recruit them to stay.

End of the day his choice.
I’m happy he is going for his dream.
WR is the least of my worries for this, we always find a guy or two.

That wasn't the point of my OP or the subject of this thread. That has been discussed ad nauseum in the one specifically about him.

I hope that WR whose name begins with a J that I'm too lazy to look up tells Saban to stick it. The Raiders need this kid.

First off, this is not a common occurrence. Too many kids leave early, but not projected 1st rounders.

Secondly, I would be telling this kid to go. If he's a 1st or even 2nd round pick, he will get signed and that's some serious loot to turn down. You never know what could happen when you come back to college for a year (injury, suspension, etc) that could hinder your NFL grade.

If it doesn't pan out, come back to school to get your degree unless you pursue a coaching career.

I would think Jackson being in school for a full 4 years is why he is leaving.

despite what we think, not all kids want to stay in college for 5 years.

This is not a thread about whether he should stay or go or trying to understand why he made the decision he did. There was already one foe that? This is a thread complaining about how we seem to always be running into obstacles that other teams don't. This was a comparison about the fortunes of a school like FSU and my perception of the our misfortune.

Hopefully that includes Tua. I don’t need my Phins drafting damaged goods hoping his 4 surgeries have all healed. No thanks. Hard pass!

right...and my point is your comparing apples to oranges...

this past season was Wilson’s third season in college as opposed to Jackson which it was his fourth...

Jackson is/was a True Senior it and Wilson is a true junior.

I really think Jackson had spent his four years in college and was ready to move on to the next thing in his life instead of spending a 5th year at school.

i also have a weird opinion and thought that Jackson really didn’t get along in the locker room at Syracuse. I think he just knew it was time to move on.

I just don’t think this is an example of “swimming against the current” that’s all

You still don't get it. This thread is not about those specific players. It is about the feeling that the rich seem to stay rich/get richer and how we seem to consistently get kicked in groin. I used those guys as examples because they are current.

gotta spend $$$$$$$$ to get rich and you have to win games consistently. Something we haven’t done in a really really long time.

winning means money.

Clemson used to be a nothing program and probably felt about the same way we do 20 years ago.

now look at them!

Some guys just love school. We've had a couple guys that were projected top picks that have stayed before, CJ Spiller being the main one. College is an experience that few get and some want it to continue as long as it can.

Well, given that their academic, family, and economic situations as well as their personal goals are exactly the same, I get your confusion.

Actually, I don't get why you care at all what people do with their own lives, when it has no impact on yours.

What are you talking about? I wasn't criticizing anyone's decision. Did you read the OP and any of my other posts or do you just have poor reading comprehension? The whole point of what I was saying was that we seem to get kicked in the balls all the time. I was complaining about our seeming misfortune. I was not criticizing either player's decision.
