Maryland Played Illinois in MSG Saturday

The B1G tried to start a new tradition on the weekend before the Super Bowl. Play a basketball game Saturday aftenoon and a hockey game Saturday night.

The crowd for basketball was 7,239. Attendance for hockey, which featured Penn State and Michigan, was 9,271.

Looks like it was a giant failure. This was the last year for the series and it apparently will not be extended. The B1G has been humiliated again trying to claim NYC. Yawn.

I was wondering about attendance when I saw they played at MSG. Looked like an enthusiastic crowd on tv but it's impossible to see how many people are actually there since they keep MSG dark. Not surprised that matchup didn't excite too many.
