Class of 2015 - Matt Ryan? | Syracusefan.com

Class of 2015 Matt Ryan?

Could always use a white guy in the corner.

Francis or anyone, do we have any interest in this kid? 6-5 from New Rochelle, I haven't watched any clips but my brother says he's the best high school shooter he's ever seen. Interest from lots of schools though only 3 stars, ranked 109 nationally. Offers from BC, Notre Dame, among others:

Last I saw, Duke and Kentucky have watched, and also has an offer from Notre Dame. This kid is blowing up.

Can he do anything other than shoot? Guard or forward?

Does he suck in the postseason?

How about Carruthers from East High in Rochester. He is averaging over 37 ppg and has two games in the 50s. 6'3" guard who also gets assists and is a very good athlete...

Just watched a few clips. Doesn't appear to be overly athletic but man, textbook form. Absolutely pure shooting stroke. Good size. Can't tell about his handle or vision, since the clips are almost entirely catch and shoot, but he's got great form and arc.

I see he has offers from Creighton and Davidson, in addition to several others and some increased interest from some of the bigger boys. He seems like the kind of kid who, if he winds up at Creighton or Davidson, will hang 26 or 27 on some 4 or 5 seed in the NCAA tournament because he will go off for 7 or 8 threes.

He would be a role player off the bench for us, but seems like he could turn into a Rautins type down the road. Especially since he's still young, and developing, and may not be done growing. If we decided to grab him, and put him in the same class as Richardson and Lydon, that would have to be one of the best shooting classes ever, for anyone, wouldn't it?

Just do not think in the end their will be room, they at most will take 4, already have two locked up and Diagne, Howard, Bryant, Silva, Jones all seem to have interest so if any two of these chooce SU already having offers it will not leave room for any of the guys listed today. Thats leaving out Diallo, Briscoe, who I believe to be long shots. I still would like to see Diagne and Silva two athletic bigs that can develop. Cooney is a 5 year player, Patterson, Joseph, and BJ will all develop, and if need be MG can play either gaurd position and he will also be at SU until his Senior year. Combine that with Malachi and SU will be set at gaurd for some time.

Oh I agree, can't imagine us having room. Just curious to see if we were ever really interested. This kid is going to score a lot of points somewhere and become one of the best three point specialists in the country.

I got to watch him last year and early this year when he was getting scouted by mid-majors and lower high-major teams. To be honest, I don't see him as more than a bench player in a big conference. He does shoot well, but he's more of a tweener than a true 2 or true 3. I think he'll wind up at Notre Dame, but I think he's a backup option, not a top player.

He came up for the Elite Camp back in August. Would assume since Lydon was offered instead of Ryan after the camp, that the staff didn't view him as good of a fit. Notre Dame seems to be the team to beat for him.

Carruthers grades are reportedly bad, which is why for such a high scorer he's generating very little D1 interest until he gets that straightened out.
