Assume: -Melo and Dion leave without finishing their course work (clink)
-They don’t get us a penalty just yet
-Nerlens commits and is as advertised
-We have a great year, maybe even win it all
-Nerlens and MCW leave early without finishing their course work (clink)
-WE NOW DEEP INTO THE QUICK SAND
-SU will not stoop to the KENTUCKY METHOD of ensuring academic success for athletes leaving early (clink)
-This is like the energizer bunny of all gifts that keep on giving.

How do we feel about one and dones NOW?

I think (unless the rules change or SU changes academic policies) we face two very unappetizing outcomes.

The NCAA does allow for waivers of individual players who go to the NBA if they are in goos academic standing at the end of the year.

I get the waiver. My concern is that the time for declaring for the draft is now April 10th or so. There is no way a serious first round talent can afford the time to go to class and finish his year to qualify for the waiver! They have to be in the gym all day every day.
Unless the U can give them a pass from mid February on; a one and done will always cost you 2 APR points. Do you really think the kids at Kentucky wouldn’t have them out of the tourney every year unless some sort of “arrangement” hadn’t been made?

Does anyone know what happens if a kid just withdraws from school, assuming good academic standing prior to the spring semester?
