McCord

I'm curious how many here don't understand that reference. Most probably do, but not some of the younger bucks (maybe born 1980 or later).

If any of them watched "The Goldbergs" they'd get it.

The money will be there for McCord if he wants to come back. It's funny. If McCord comes back, I predict the money will pour in to the program. On the hoop side, who could really use the money, the money isn't there. People will donate to a winner.
On a related note, it's a helluva lot harder to turn around a FB program than a hoops program.

For real and for it to not be a one year fluke. Right now for once it’s nice to have the coach everyone wants. Even better to watch other programs implode like at Florida state and UNC

Only a matter of time before the bags of cash start showing up at the coaching staffs doors so let’s enjoy it and hope they stick around.

What I think some aren't thinking about is there's no guarantee that McCord makes the NFL and even if he does, that he becomes a starter. There's only about 30 of those in the world. He returns to Syracuse, it gives him one last guaranteed chance to be the man and lead a team, as well as get more experience to help him become a better QB to hopefully succeed in the NFL. Additionally, he gets a guaranteed good payday if he returns. He goes to the NFL, there's so many factors that affect making a team and it will likely be there in a year as much as it is this year. Once you go to the NFL, there's no do over.
To keep the math simple.
Each million in a annuity will generate about 5% tax free per year
Forever. He's crazy not to return if he is granted another year. The NFL will be there for him next year
Most likely at about the same draft position as this year.

I’m sure it’s been said but is tomorrow the last day he can declare? And if he declared tomorrow then he could opt out by February 7th?

Tomorrow is the last day UNDERCLASSMEN can declare.

Since McCord is out of eligibility, he is automatically in the draft. If he wants to "opt out" of the draft, he has to declare by Feb 7.

I’m still trying to figure out how a $1mm turns into a %age. I’ve read it multiple times

What currently qualifies someone is an underclassman?
  1. Someone that "graduated" from high school less than 4 years ago?
(we know that those 3 years out of high school can declare for the draft, but that is unrelated)
  2. Someone that has not yet graduated from college?
  3. Someone that has been in college less than 4 years?
  4. Someone that is out of NCAA eligibility?
What if they get it back?
Hence, the obvious answer is #1. ;)
