McCord

Let's not forget that the guy who headed the NCAA when we constantly got screwed, because something happened to him at SU when he was a student like a girl screwed him over, is no longer there. This is like a "Makeup call" in a game. The NCAA might feel like they "owe" us a nice decision.

Anything else and it is disingenuous when comparing to the college system. Might as well be minor league sports if you change it further.

Eh, minor league sports are a ladder system. You can move up, you can move down, and you can spend as long as you need at any given level so long as you pull your weight. College sports have always been a funnel system, like F1. There's a ticking clock, and when it's up you either advance or you're done.

At the end of the day, five years to play four is just as arbitrary as using colleges to manage the funnel. If it were only ever "sports for students," then the only requirement would be that you're a student. It's not, and the cover was blown out of the water with NIL.

Meeks was Mr. Clutch all year. What a huge deal it would be getting those two guys back.
If we could get Meeks back, I don't even know how all the pieces fit, but we would have FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS, and I dig those problems. Pena, Meeks, Zeed, Tremble...weapons, weapons, weapons...

I think they are infatuated with a few guys who haven't hit the portal yet. Patience

I went away for a few hours, came back, and nary a rumor? Not even an Uber driver who overheard a phone call or a group of Christmas carolers who knocked on Fran's door at the perfect time to see him and Kyle high fiving through the window?

The available rumors are limited only by your imaginations, folks!

I heard from a reliable source, Uncle Bebop’s taxi driver, that McCord’s waiver was granted but only valid to play for Kenny Bob Chesney at James Madison.

Other than that, I got nothing!

I think Ross-Simmons could step in for Meeks. Pena will be at least as good as Pena this year. And, Zeed can be the speed back in place of Hatcher. If Allen doesn't come back, Willis will have to step up as a pass receiver out of the backfield. The backups will be at least as strong. If Kyle comes back, this offense is SICK.

Don’t forget about Nixon. Hopefully, he can come back from his injury fully healthy. He was a great backup early in the season before he got hurt.

Based on a combination of talking with people very close to the program, fact checking, and reading in between the lines. Here is what I believe. The waiver was requested a while ago as many have mentioned. It was originally declined. They have submitted an appeal- an appeal in which Ryan Day has in fact signed off on for wrongfully blowing his redshirt in garbage time. That has the potential to cost Kyle significant financial loss. In today’s day and age, the NCAA is under such scrutiny they have become much more favorable in granting appeals.
Now, the one year anniversary of Kyle’s commitment is tomorrow, Dec 17th. There has been much talk that the school was hoping for an answer on the appeal sometime this week. Let me ask this, why is the “CLUB DART” NIL party being held during the middle of the week? Where better to make such an announcement?
As we seen today with Brady Norton, schools try to land commitments while the kids are in visit during portal season. It prevents them from going on to the next opportunity. Rickie Collins was a sho in to accept on his visit but the staff didn’t offer.
There’s a reason why the staff is slow playing and not offering. I am going to go out on a limb and suggest my opinion- “Cuse knows or will know tomorrow or Wednesday morning”. Kyle will get his extra year, and a public announcement will be made Wednesday Night. I could certainly bring completely wrong, or slightly wrong- but I firmly believe that my theory holds strong possibility!

I like you though. I like you very much.

While it's specific to Certified Public Accountants, all states require 150 credit hours to get a CPA license. That translates to 5 years college taking normal class load. I'm sure there are other technical certifications and careers that expect more than 4 years college.
I guess I should have clarified that the degree programs 99% of athletes are in are four year programs?

Correct, college athletics are a closed monopoly that take advantage of kids that only have one method to become pro in their sports.

Therefore college athletics should be blown up and sports should adopt an academy system like they have in association football.

Some can do it in 4-years some can’t. Being a div 1 athlete is hard and for a lot of kids it’s a lot more work than high school. 5 years is fine

Most can and do finish in 4, and a 5 year eligibility system would further take advantage of these kids and their dreams of the next level. Once their 4 years are up they are still allowed to finish courses and graduate if need be.
