McCord

He also might be a 4th/5th rounder if he comes out this year. He'd tear up workouts and interviews.

It's funny how we all talk about him as the "Best SU QB ever" but don't think he's going to get drafted.
I’m not sure if you understand math. He can name his price at Cuse let’s just say 2 mil which is a steal. You’re like oh what about that 800k next year in case some team picks him to play on their their second string practice squad.

4th and 5th round picks are not second string practice squad.

I would be absolutely shocked if McCord went undrafted barring some weird freaky medical thing that no one can control. Some coach is going to sit in and interview with him and believe Kyle has what it takes to be a long term backup with upside to maybe be a starter one day.

Sounds like McCord waiver got denied…Lequint talked about enjoying watching Kyle on sundays.
There was a preface to the statement and it was a way to not answer if he knew if Kyle was coming back or not.

Spot on.There is no doubt that Kyle is a NFL QB.

Tommy Devito had a back up job in the NFL. You turn on redzone any time after week 6 and you’re going to see some poor QB play. Kyle has a long future in the NFL. I see him anywhere from a Gino Smith type career to spot starter for at least a decade barring injury. Wouldn’t surprise me if he was better than that.

I honestly dont see a big difference between Mac Jones and Kyle McCord.

The NCAA can avoid it by settling and proactively giving him another year or announcing a 5 in 5 policy, or feel confident in their rules and decisions and go to court where anything can happen.
The 5 to play 4 is pretty solid. What constitutes a season, less than 5 games played, is solid. Not sure about the wiggle room, other than Ryan Day allegedly falling on his sword saying he screwed up and forced Kyle to burn his RS year.

NCAA hasn’t technically lost yet on the JUCO thing, but there is more of an argument there given the nature of the competition at that level.
The JUCO wasn’t the level of competition. It was the inconsistent (arbitrary) way they treated post high school, pre-four year school, competition. Prep school didn’t count. Junior hockey didn’t count. Pro sports (Chris Weinke) didn’t count. Why should JUCO?

So should someone be able to remain eligible as long as he could make money? 6 years, 7, why not 10. There has to be some limit, and there will always be someone claiming to be screwed by that limit.
That wasn’t the basis of the ruling. A governing body can’t impose arbitrary, capricious, and contradictory rules, especially when those rules negatively impact commerce and the ability to earn.

Folks need to read the actual decision.

I agree. Fran knows it, and so does Kyle. But if Kyle wants to come back for another ride, make at least as much money as a 5th round guy and try to turn himself into a top 2 round guy, then by all means come on back dude

Mccord and Nixon's play calling were immaculate. The most competent Cuse duo I've personally seen. It's what Syracuse is supposed to be.
This. Nixon deserves a TON of credit for this year's success. The players execute, but he almost always put them in a position to succeed. He is the one assistant that would really hurt to lose.

You know how a lot of Syracuse fans also became Eagles fans because of McNabb? I never understood that .. I do now.
Haha! Last night I was thinking, "Okay, if Kyle somehow doesn't make an NFL roster and ends up in the CFL, I will follow that team." I even got on the CFL merchandise site to check out jerseys in preparation for buying a McCord jersey. The jersey designs are atrocious, by the way. They all have the same basic template. A couple team's alternates aren't bad.

You really think so? If you watched Hard Knocks offseason with Giants when Dabol was interviewing Harrison Jr they were both kind of making diggs at Kyle and his level of play. Now I understand, last years Kyle isnt this years Kyle, Im just saying.

SU caught lightening in a bottle with McCord, and he had some better
than average pieces to work with. I would equate his situation with
Melo's. He has to leave while he's a hot commodity.

With a much more difficult schedule next year, things might be more
challenging. It will be interesting to see if the program has been elevated to a higher level, or if this year was an anomaly. In any
case, it was fun year for a frustrated fan base.
