At the end of a close game and especially a game that we are behind, he seems to forget about the rest of the team and he thinks that he can make shots that he doesn't normally make.

I remember the loss to Richmond with Edwards launching long range shots while Billy Owens who was hot that day watched.

CJ didn't take a shot in the last minutes of the game until the three at the end. What's up with that?

Edwards was better in parking lots and alleys.

and car windows...

The way the guards played in the second half last night, I wonder if they weren't out until 3 am on Sunday.

MCW is by far the most talented player on this team. If you were the most talented player on your team and you looked around in a close game and you could pass the ball to Triche who will pass it back to you/turn it over/miss a shot OR pass it to CJ who has no room to operate since the defense collapses on him since noone is scared of our shooters, oh and theyre not scared of CJ either because they know he will either take a jumpshot or go left OR pass it to Rak/Keita, uhhh no OR pass it to Southerland which is a good option except the defense is always shifted towards him and since South can't dribble drive he's just going to take a contested jumpshot or pass it back to you.

It all hinges on Triche, if he can be a scoring option/shooter it opens the offense and the defense can't shift to Southerland, it can't collapse on CJ, it opens up driving lanes for MCW who will get the ball to the open guy.

this team is about as dysfunctional on offense as any when asked to play half court-

they can fast break with anyone- takes a good point guard to play both

38% FG / 28% 3FG shooters that shoot 10.5 shots a game aren't the most talented player on any college team.

He is a non-shooter.

Definitely agree about us being dysfunctional in the half court. I think this has been the case the last three years, and maybe we should've seen this year coming. The differences were that last year we had a guy that could make shots with Dion and the year before we had Jackson to give us offense down low. This year we don't have a go to guy of Dion's caliber and absolutely no inside presence. We were hoping DC2 would be that guy, but he's clearly not ready yet.

As much as the early season praise of MCW’s good play may now seem somewhat unwarranted/over-the-top, it’s most likely that the current criticism of his recent poorer play may also seem somewhat unwarranted/over-the-top at some point in the future as well. So, in the effort of providing a snapshot of where the stats currently stand for MCW, these are the categories in which he currently ranks within the top 20 as compared to other Big East teams (full season stats):

Full season stats are meaningless - piled up big stats against the sisters of the poor. How does he compare to the other BE guards in conference?

MCW is going to get a nice 3 year guaranteed contract and then will be barely mentioned in the league if mentioned at all. With his lack of maturity at the point he is destined for a very short career with some time in the D league. Unless there is some miracle improvment!

I guess its all in how you define talent. I agree that he has the most NBA potential (ie highest potential draft pick) than anyone on the team. But I think the value of a player hinges on knowing what is needed at a particular time, place, situation. To force things at the point guard position or to do things that are not within your particular skill set during crunch time speaks more to immaturity. To me, the plays at the end had to at least let CJ touch it and work from there. Bottom line is we didnt really lose this on the offensive end. i think we shot 55% in the second half. The problem was that they scored i believe on their last 10 posessions. That was the problem.

I agree with everything you stated except for the 3 year guarantee. NBA 1st rounders get the first two years guaranteed and then the team has the option for the third year. If he does not live up to the "potential" he will just be released.

Triche is coming up small these past few games. He's really got to turn it around.

Triche is a complementary role player. Asking him to be the big scorer, go-to guy is like trying to get water from a stone. He's a solid role guy who is a very inconsistent shooter. He's miscast in his role this year but unless it was going to be MCW (who everyone thought would be a better shooter but is dismal) there isn't anyone else to play it. That's a big part of why this team is flawed.

Well I guess he better invest that couple of mil wisely then so he can enjoy telling stories about his awesome two year stint in "the league"
:bang:
