I can answer that question in just two words: Syracuse Basketball

HA HA HA HA HA! Love it.

I just loved Tyson's answer. It straddled the "line" between the physical and the spiritual, and was so encouraging! It is true for the body and the soul. I always think of this as Schoolhouse Earth, where we come to learn many lessons, all of them valuable. There's a reason why we say, "Live and LEARN."

The cartoon above, I think my husband's father actually felt that way, but then he got Alzheimer's and mellowed.

Can he come back? If someone is going to tell me the meaning of life it is Capt! (At least he would give me the longest and most interesting response)
I tried to PM him a couple weeks ago when I noticed his absence and he literally was gone. I PM'd one of the admins, who said that it looked like his last posts were around Dec. 30 and that it seemed he took himself off the board.

I really liked Captain J, although I suspect we had very little in common besides SU bball. But his posts were becoming increasingly rambling and I was growing concerned. Let's hope that he is fixing whatever is troubling him, and that he will come back sassier, wittier, and more irreverent than ever!

Is his real name "John"?

"I think people ask that question on the assumption that ‘meaning’ is something you can look for and go, ‘Here it is, I found it. Here’s the meaning. I’ve been looking for.’ "

Maybe that was Cooney's problem yesterday.
Ha ha ha! Oh dear.

I don't know if Captain J's name was John. I do think he lived in the mountain time zone region.

Being guarded very closely the entire game does not translate finding the meaning of life--maybe finding an open shot.

To a basketball player, finding an open shot IS finding the meaning of life.

What
So, I showed this to ten people. Got about a 50 - 50 laugh. I brought out the saying "if I have to explain it not funny“.

I sent it to 30 people and only one responded. To me, that cartoon is brilliant.

I love this quote from "Dogbert" in the Dilbert cartoon. "Money cannot buy happiness. But it can buy a lot of things happy people wish they had."

Seattle, you were probably the kindest to me on here, so I want to honor your town's musical heritage with one more. And actually, I think both of these fill in pieces to the meaning of life, at least as I and some others see it. I got to see this at PJ20 in Alpine Valley, WI, after decades of wishing. Beyond just life, I think it also has a personal meaning between myself and many things, including this board. I'm sure it isn't difficult to figure that part out. I love the dual vocals, not to mention the message and the rest of the music. Really takes a guy back. Anyhow, my brief reentry onto this site has me so worked up that beer may not be enough. I may have to finally jump on the magic bus. Any advice?
