The announcers - IMO - just completely misunderstood the Custis thing.  The reason Custis got separation is because he slowed down at the end, allowing the ball to travel over his head where only Custis could grab it.  Had Custis stayed at the same speed, it would have been a jump ball for both him and the defender.  The defender was grabbing at Custis, and he was handfighting back to extricate himself to make the final lunge for the ball (having allowed it to travel over his shoulder).  A offensive PI call there would have been terrible (unlike the OPI call on Butler, which was well earned in my view).

Regarding Neal - it was clearly a fumble.  I went back and watched it last night.  His knee actually hits the ball as he is carrying it loose, knocking it from his grasp.  He grapples for it as he is going down, but he had clearly lost control of the ball well before he hit the ground.  I didn't pay close attention to the recovery (i.e. whether it was properly called a touchback vs. being down inside the 1 yard line).
