Long time lurker, first time poster, great forum for Syracuse basketball fans. As a new fan of Syracuse basketball, primarily a fan of Michael Gbinije. Being from Richmond VA , I am a little familiar with MG's basketball history, I thought maybe it's time to start posting here to hopefully provide some insights on his journey leading to Syracuse.

For starters, I hope this article has not been posted here, if so I apologize.

Those five areas to improve on are somewhat scary, especially chemistry with teammates.

Very excited to get our first real glimpse of Silent G! He seems like a really smart, likable kid who works hard and is eager to excite the fans. I can't imagine watching from home as your teammates play in the final 4.

Hopefully he can step right in for Triche. I think he'll provide the same level of defense and better 3-point shooting.

Tons of Gbinije highlights from his 2010 AAU season with Team Takeover from DC. Gbinije and his team won the 2010 Nike EYBL championship (Peach Jam) beating St. Louis Eagles team featuring Bradley Beal and Ben McLemore. Gbinije was the champioship game MVP.

Check out MG (23) vs. Michael Gilchrist (4), Rakeem Christmas (5), and Trevor Cooney (10) of Team Final.

Thanks for posting these. MG looks like a solid player, good fundamentals, good shooting stroke, good athletic ability, good ability to finish inside. Should have an immediate impact. The big unknown is his ability to play at the top of the 2-3 zone. He has the size and athletic ability to be very good on that front...but it typically takes a while to get that down.

That is also what he named himself that he needed to work on. It wasn't a coach or another player saying that. Just what he felt he needed to improve.

Wes, MCW and Cooney all came in after sit out/not playing a lot to very good zone defense. We haven't seen he play the zone but that doesn't mean it will be new to him. Let's hope he shoots it well next year.

It was meant as a joke. Just 3 years ago maybe? The 6'8 kid who hit all of his three pointers.
