Does it make a difference? To whom and in what respect or context? It didn't 'matter' that the Carrier Dome was named after a company, or that Manley was named after 'some historical dude.' What matters to me is that anything and everything be executed well, and this just isn't that. It's vulgar, and in an aesthetic landscape that is already replete with 'towny design choices,' this is just more trash on top of the heap. I don't really care that the Lally name is on the signage/building. It's his/their right and privilege. My right and privilege, also, to comment on how i think it's hideous, ego-fluffed in its execution, and a poor decision to de-emphasize what had been established and still holds value.
