Carmelo Anthony: 25,551 points in 38,129 minutes, 32.2 per 48 minutes. He shot 0.482 from two, 0.347 from three and 0.811 from the line, a total of 1.640. 25,551 points - 11,224 missed field goals - 1,375 missed free throws = 12,952. If Melo had made every one of his 16,436 two point shot attempts, his 3,925 three point shot attempts and his 7,290 free throw attempts, he would have scored 51,937 points, so he scored 49.2% of the points he would have if he'd made every shot. His averages per 48 minutes: 32.2p 8.7r 4.0a 1.4s 0.7b = +47.0 14.1mfg 1.7mft 3.6to 3.9pf = -23.7 = 23.3NP 16.4OE +6.9DP Jabari Parker: 3,724 points in 7,341 minutes, 24.3 per 48 minutes. He shot 0.521 from two, 0.337 from three and 0.739 from the line, a total of 1.597. 3,741 points - 1,557 missed field goals - 196 missed free throws = 1,988. (If he';d played Melo's minutes at this rate, this would be 10,326) If Jabari had made every one of his 2,552 two point shot attempts, his 505 three point shot attempts and his 750 free throw attempts, he would have scored 7,369 points, so he scored 50.8% of the points he would have if he'd made every shot. His averages per 48 minutes: 24.3p 9.3r 3.4a 1.4s 0.6b = +39.0 10.1mfg 1.3mft 3.0to 3.3pf = -17.7 = 21.3NP 12.9OE +8.4DP It's actually an interesting comparison. Parker is a good player and it's not an insult to be compared to him. The biggest difference are that Melo's been around a lot longer and has much greater career totals and has accomplished more things and that he shot the ball more, scored more and missed more shots. Parker is a somewhat better rebounder, Melo is a somewhat better passer but he has a few more turnovers and fouls . Parker may not have peaked but he hasn't suffered through the declining phase of his career yet, so he may or may not main the averages at the same level. I wouldn't mind having either guy on my team.
