For me, I would not want to take about half the money to go to a team where there's a solid chance you end up getting stuck playing with another Amare.  Assuming the Heat with LeBron are not an option, Melo's best two options to win are Phoenix and New York.  Phoenix because they have a ridiculous amount of assets that they could use to put together a contender very quickly, and New York because if Melo can be patient for one more year, they'll have the cap space to put a team around him.  There's no slam dunk "sign with us and you will be a champion" option for him.
