Melo production already ahead of last season
Last season as a freshman C Fab Melo put up 77 points, 64 rebounds and 25 blocks in 33 games. This year Melo has already exceeded those numbers with 79 points, 65 rebounds and 29 blocks in just 12 games. “I improved a lot since last year,” Melo said. “I worked a lot and now it is paying off.”

It is good news and represents real improvement, but temper that with the fact that he has played 276 minutes this year, compared to just 327 all of last year.

On a per-minute basis, the improvements are still significant, but not as astounding as the per-game numbers indicate - especially since more than half of last season's minutes came vs. the more difficult conference, BET and NCAAT competition.
