If you don't mind me adding to the thread, I'll post some pictures I've taken over the years. If you have never gotten to visit the American cemeteries in Europe, they are really humbling places to go. The nice thing is they are considered sovereign US territory and are all kept up in immaculate condition.

This is the Luxembourg American Cemetery. General Patton is buried here.

Look how far it is from the water across that beach and the commanding position anyone up on the bluffs would have. Puts it into perspective.
