We had a semiprivate room decorated gracefully with lights to look like th night's stars and crystal snow flakes After on excellent martini with Beefeaters I was among the stars at warp speed . The prime rib was excellent if not a tad over cooked but otherwise up to their standards of excellence. When I got to th Tuba my problem was that I couln't read the b muic. It s oun thi tim of ya o th impl ong were hritma thmd. I could play by ear and used the trumpet valve position. The professor figured out byy something I did that I wasn't reading the music and called me on it . I would lie to the guy so I admitted my stunt. He laughed and gave me my two credits anyway.With the deception over I always warmed up on a trumpet and blew my cover with the other students by pumping out some trumpet stuff of the day . I wanted nothing to do with the formal band in those days I was recently married and my career in banking wasabout to take a giant step as soon as I graduated so I declined all offers including one from my father-inlaw who was a drumcorp freak with the Reading Buccaneers who are still to this day a major player in that subculture
