if you can get a Texas QB, you do it.

I do wish, however, we had a larger presence in Texas. Hell, if Rutgers can pull a kid out last year, we should have been able to as well (Zach Allen, notwithstanding).

What made brewer impressive was that he never got rattled. Kid played as cool as a cucumber. I'm not sure you can chalk that up to the lone star.

All fine and dandy ,but Texas got their butts wiped by a Mormon school yesterday 41-7 that who's roster is loaded with the top Texas high school talent there is:noidea:

I think the play I liked best was when he had a 3rd down run late in the game, almost got the first down, took a big hit, didn't jump right back up until one of the trainers came near him. He knew that he would have to come out of the game and he jumped back up and went toward the huddle. Turned out they punted, but you just knew that kid is a gamer.

(God I hate VT, thankfully I don't work with any of them right now).

The multiple celebration penalties on VT at the end (glaring penalties with no remorse by athletes or any reprimand by Beamer's staff) reminds me why I hate the Jokies so much. I was rooting for them, but I definitely needed to shower after the game and then go to confession.

Let's Go Orange!!!

Look at Baylor. RG3. Nick Florence. Bryce Petty. Now Seth Russell who started for an injured Petty. Threw 400+ yards and 5 touchdowns. IN THE FIRST HALF! He was then relieved by the 3rd string for the second half.

I believe all kids are from TX. It's plug and play in that system.

I think you can chalk it up to the lone star that he probably was given when being recruited :D

Actually I don't think the penalties were that egregious. Personality felt the one (by#7 I think) should have been a no call. Getting sick of these trophy for all inspired rules.

Agree. They were both bad calls. If that's excessive celebration then the rule is clearly don't celebrate at all, literally. Is college hockey the same? If you raise your stick and hand after a goal do you get a 2 minute minor?

The 1st penalty was because the VT player performed the exact same dance, though not nearly as lengthy or egregious, that Kendall Moore & Ivan Foy did following the winning TD vs Nova. Did you have the same feelings watching it then?

Yes I did, in fact. It was low class and unnecessary. What happened to just proving it on the field? The showboating pre-practiced thing is bush league. Don't confuse what I am saying with endorsing the overuse of penalties - I think officials are too trigger happy as a whole. But... true celebrating vs. practiced choreographed dance moves? Two very different things.

I am quite confident that if Moore and Foy drew a flag with that mess, Shafer would have been right in their ears - as opposed to Beamer's apparent disinterest.

yikes, no fun alert!

And Cam Lynch should have been flagged for his strut/dance move after a 1st half sack.

Let the kids celebrate for a few seconds, if it keeps going, throw the flag.

That 5 foot 9 kid at Kansas a few years ago (Reesing?) was what convinced me that Texas has too many good QBs. He was throwing for 4,000 yards and leading them to the Orange Bowl. He couldn't even get on all the rides at Disney World.
